Before It's Too Late

We all know we should talk to our parents about their wishes, their care, and what they want for the future. But most of us don’t.

The conversations feel uncomfortable. Emotional. Loaded. So we wait — until illness, confusion, or loss turns every unanswered question into a crisis. I've been there. That's why I wrote this guided workbook, to give you the courage and tools to have these conversations with your aging parents or loved ones.

Inside these pages, you’ll find:

  • A simple, human-centered conversation framework
  • Real examples of how these talks can sound
  • Guided prompts and space to capture what matters most
  • Gentle guidance for what comes next

This workbook is meant to be used slowly, thoughtfully, and on your own timeline.

About the Author

Hi, I’m Tara.

If you’re here, you’re probably thinking about a conversation you know matters—but haven’t quite known how to start. Maybe your parents avoid talking about the future, or maybe you’ve seen how hard things can get when plans aren’t clear.

I’ve been there.

After losing both of my in-laws within a short period of time, I found myself surrounded by paperwork, unanswered questions, and grieving family members looking for direction. Even with “the basics” in place, it became clear how much confusion and stress can follow when important details haven’t been talked through.

That experience led me to become a Certified Executor Advisor and to create SageVault—a place where families can find clarity, structure, and support during one of life’s hardest seasons. With more than 20 years of experience in operations, I help families move beyond just documents to focus on communication, organization, and preparedness.

I wrote Before It’s Too Late for people who care deeply about their parents but feel stuck. My hope is that this book gives you the language and confidence to begin—one thoughtful, meaningful conversation at a time.

Thank you for being here. I’m honored to walk alongside you.

— Tara
